I always search the websites that have been visited by my children,,tonight when I typed in www.a,,then
www.b - I started seeing some disturbing websites that have been visited,,I'm new to this,,so does this mean someone in my house had to literally go in and type in these websites or could this be a virus/hacker problem,,,everything
else seems to be running fine

To check the websites which were recently browsed, you can press CTRL+H in internet explorer window, which gives you the history of all the websites visited for last 20 days.

Don't Download Malware

Where are you getting the download?

There are malicious people who download valid copies of a popular download, modify the file with malicious software, and then upload the file with the same name. Make sure you are downloading from the developer's web page or a reputable company.

Don't install download manager

Many sites suggest or require you to install an installer or a download manager before allowing you to download a program you may be interested in downloading. These tools almost always cause your computer more problems and may even have malware or other spyware. Avoid advertisements on download pages

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION problem - Windows8

Hello :)

I have a new computer Hp 4540s and I am working with it only 1 and half month.
At the end of January I was just surfing on the internet with Chrome browser and then after some minutes the whole pc freezed and I got DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION thing and the
whole computer restarts.
My PC did this totally three times and I really dont know what should I do.

Can you please help me with it?

Does Windows 7 with XP Mode needs to have "dual" antivirus installed?

I recently purchased a DELL Vostro 3550 -Windows 7 Professional with XP Mode, and have Norton 360 installed in the main OS (Windows 7), but when I open the XP mode I keep on getting a warning that my computer is not protected! I am very worry since
I purchased this particular version of Windows 7 in order to be able to keep my old XP files, as well as send receive documentation created under Windows XP.

I am not an expert IT person...just know the basics, therefore if anyone has some idea on how to fix this problem, please help since neither the people from DELL or SYMANTEC here in ASIA do not have a clue as what to do!!!

Windows Error Reporting - To Fix Does Windows 7 with XP Mode needs to have "dual" antivirus installed?

Go to Start button.
Open Control Panel.
Go to Windows Error Reporting.
Click on System and Maintenance, then click Problem Reports and Solutions.
Next, click Change Settings located on the left side panel of the Problem Reports and Solutions window.
Select an option to configure how you want Windows to look for a solution to your problems. You may allow Windows to do it automatically or ask you every time to check if problem occurs.
Next, click the Advanced settings link.
Select Off to turn off Error Reporting.

Is there a way to display the chart series similar to ctr~ for formulas? My charts are in a different worksheets from the data...switching back and forth gets old when qc'ing.

1) click on a data series in chart and observe Format Bar; it will hold something like
=SERIES(Sheet2!$E$3,Sheet2!$F$1:$G$1,Sheet2!$F$3:$G$3,2)
2) right click chart; open "Select Data" and you can see to the ranges used for that data series x & y values

Note: It is recommended that you back up your files and folders before attempting this step:

Move the mouse cursor over to the upper right side of the screen.
A menu will pop up on the left. Click on the "Settings" feature on the menu.
On the Settings window, click on the "Change PC settings."
Now, left click on the "Update and recovery" feature.
For the next step, left click on the "Recovery" feature.
There is an option here saying "Refresh your PC without affecting your files." There, left click on the "Get started" button.
Now, follow the instructions on the screen to finish the Refresh process.
After the Refresh process has finished restart your Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 device.

When running Norton 360, I am unable to perform run registry cleanup (under tasks) because its identifying no restore point.
When I attempt to manually create
a restore point in W7 HP, all is greyed out and therefore unable to create.

Disk. what is disk.

Hi,
I'm using window 8.1.
I realized something in task manager called "Disk" .
It says that it's the total utilization across all physical drivers.
I also realized that the computer starts running slow when the
"Disk" percentage reaches 100% .
What is it exactly I have 4 GB of
RAM and core i3 CUP.
My PC should be faster.
What causes it to increase? I mean
RAM is a chip that does the tasks that the Cpu commands it to do.
But what's
"Disk" and what makes it increases and how to help it decreases.
Just for you all to know it's not always 100%, I really have no problem with speed.
To me, my pc is fast but sometimes I realize that disk thing and just want to know about it for my own knowledge.
Meaning: I'm not suffering and I don't need help I'm
just curious.

This is a really fundamental question about computers and entire books are written about the subject.
CPU (= Central Processing Unit) runs a sequence of instructions as contained in a program.
The Program is loaded into RAM (=Random Access Memory) and the CPU gets each instruction or data from RAM as it completes the previous instruction.
RAM is only able to hold those programs and any data when power is on, RAM does not carry out any tasks as such but is just a storage device.
When the computer is turned off any information in RAM is lost.
Because of this you need another device able to
store those programs and any data (files) when you turn off the computer
Disk (=Hard Disk Drive) is another storage device but it stores that information magnetically.
This allows the information to be changed but more importantly does not disappear when power is removed.
All of the files that make up the programs you use are
stored on the disk drive including Windows.
When you select a program (such as internet explorer) that program is collected from the Disk and loaded into RAM in order for the CPU to run the program.
In your case when Disk =100% what this normally means is information is being read from or written to (changed) at the fastest rate it can actually handle it.
The computer appears to run slower because when this happen the program is now waiting for the
task reading (or writing) the disk to finish before it can get on to the next job.
As you say it is not a problem, that your computer is fast enough generally then everything is normal.
When a computer appears to get slow one of the causes can be the disk spends more time sorting out the information requested so that 100% happens more
often.

Windows Restore

Click on the Start button on the Taskbar.
Type "System Restore" (without quotes) in the Search box and hit Enter or,
Click on System Restore (when you see System Restore pop up in the list of search results).
Make sure the "Recommended restore" radio button is checked on the restore utility window.
Click on Next and follow the instructions given.

Note: There is the option on the restore utility to select "Choose a different restore point". Unless you have a specific reason to select a different date and time than what Windows recommends, just select the recommended option stated in the steps above. If you choose to select another one, follow these steps:

Click on that desired date and time, and Windows 7 will perform a scan for any affected programs in that restore point.

Once completed, click Next and follow the instructions given.

Once you have selected the restore point, your system will start the restoring process, after which you will have to restart the system.
