All my icons open with Notepad. How do I fix it?

i tried to play a game but it asked me to open it in another window, so i clicked the notepad icon and now all of my icons are the notepad icons and whenever i try to open something it up , all i see is a bunch of words like codes even in safe mode! what
should i do?
