All Internet Browsers run extremely slow in Windows 8.1 when background programs or Window Store apps are running
Recently I have upgraded from Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro - and Windows 8.1 Pro.
Under Windows 7 I could have 10 or more background apps automatically start when Windows booted and be running with no performance problems whatever.
Note: my system has an AMD 6 core CPU running at 3.3 and I have 16 gb ram.
PROBLEM:
With Windows 8.1 Pro - if I have any programs or Windows Store apps automatically start when Windows start - all internet browsers (Internet Explorer/Firefox/Google Chrome) runs at a snail pace. In fact, it is so bad you literally press a key and wait minutes
for it to respond.
If I disable everything in MSCONFIG/START - the problem does not exist.
Also, the problem does no exist if I bring Windows 8.1 Pro up in SAFE mode.
All other applications i.e.
MS Office 2007, etc. does not seemed to be affected.
Additionally, and ironically - on my laptop I did a CLEAN installation instead of an upgrade like I did on my desktop, and Windows 8.1 PRO does not experience this type of problem.
What would be causing this problem, and how can I resolve it, short of doing a Clean installation (which actually is impossible since the Windows 8 CD for my desktop is only an UPGRADE cd).

Thanks for your reply, gob0nkers.
However, the problem was more than just the initial startup of an internet browser.
The problem affected the browsers' performance the whole time you would use it.
After doing additional testing - I think I might have found the program causing the problem.
While additional time will prove if I am right or not - it seems a program I use all the time called
HOME TYPIST was causing the problem.
I've disabled it and am now using a similar program called
CLICKEY.
At least for now, it seems to have resolved the problem.
The only mystery I am now trying to figure out is, Why do programs seem to start up faster from the START screen, than when they are started from the DESKTOP?
Thanks to all for your help.
Update:
After a few days of continued use of Windows 8.1, I have concluded my initial findings (listed above) was correct.
It seems like there is/was a definitely incompatibility problem between Windows 8.1 and the program,
HOME TYPIST . Since using the alternative, CLICKEY,
I have not experienced additional problem.
Once again, Thanks to all for your help.
