Are there any known problems with users of Word 2007 and earlier versions filling in forms created in Word 2010?

Hi,
 
I'm preparing to deliver some training on the use of forms created in Word 2010 (for reference they are using Windows 7).
These forms will be distributed via email and also via links on a website (which will open the form in Word).  However, we have no way
of knowing which version of Word the user will be working with when completing the form.  The form is to be submitted by email attachment.
 
Does anyone have any words of advice?  I was contemplating creating the form in Word; but adding the fields in Acrobat so users could use Acrobat to complete the form.  Again, this poses a question about version functionality.
 
I'd be really grateful for your thoughts.

If you are creating protected forms using legacy form fields (you will find
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_pages/add_classic_form_controls.html useful) then if you save as word 97-2003 DOC format older Word versions shouldn't have problems with it.

Acrobat forms are more robust, but may prove more problematical should you want to process the data once the forms are completed.

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Restart your computer.
