Automatic repair couldn't repair my PC: Log file: C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

Hi,

A few weeks ago my laptop started running slowly and I had to manually turn it off after it crashed.

I searched online as to how to repair it myself, so I tried to restore it, but it asked me to check Rdsk in CommandPrompt.
(I think that's it anyway)

After doing this, the automatic repair would stop at 27% and even after leaving it over night it was still stuck.
I had a friend have a look at it on Wednesday and got my laptop back yesterday, he said he wiped it, it ran fine all day, but after turning
it on today, the automatic repair comes up.

It prepares the repair and then tries to diagnose, but it cannot do it, then it gives me all the usual options; continue to windows, refresh, restore.
The last time this happened, I clicked continue and it would still work, but now it loops my laptop back
to the start screen and will not repair.

When it says it cannot repair it comes up with:

Log Files: C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

I'm wondering if there is a way for me to fix this? My laptop came with Windows 8 and I'm not good with computers and don't know if I do anything could I lose the Windows?

Any help will be appreciated, my laptop hasn't been working for a while now and I'm losing my patience with it.
