Troubleshoot:backup to flashdrive Error

Hi all, trying to backup files to a 16gb flash drive.
The only place that shows up is cd drive.
How do I get it to recognize the flash drive??? (yes the flash drive is connected)

a) Do you see the Flash drive in the Windows explorer?
b) Did you format the flash drive using ntfs partition?

If still you do not find the flash drive then you need to update the drivers for the flash drive and check if the issue gets fixed.
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

 
1.      Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and

         Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator

         password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2.      In Device Manager, locate the device, and then double-click the device name.
3.      Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver and follow the instructions.

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Restart your computer.
