My laptop's Ethernet port got (physically) broken so I bought an USB Ethernet adapter and installed it just fine.
However, when I try to configure its LAN settings there is no ''Authentication'' tab.
I googled a bit about that, and
it seems to be that usually the problem is in a service called Wired AutoConfig, but it's working fine at my laptop.
Even better, in LAN settings of the old (broken) Ethernet port there is an authentication tab.

As per description I understand that authentication tab is missing from the LAN settings.
 
However, did you check the status of
WLAN AutoConfig service?
 
I would suggest you to check in services if the
service is started and set to automatic.
To open Services Window, follow the steps given below:
 
1.
Click Start, type ‘services.msc’, press
enter.
The Services windows will be open.
 
2.
Double-click on the WLAN AutoConfig service.
 
3.
Click on ‘Start’ to start the service.
 
4.
Click the General tab.
Verify that the service has not been disabled in the Startup Type box.
If it has, click
Automatic to have it start when you start the computer.
