15 windows updates all failed to install
Everytime I get windows 8 updates the majority of them fail to install they get downloaded, restart to install get to about 9% then restart and roll back it's a pain, with the majority of updates failing to install.
Why is this happening? I have scoured
the net and it seems a very common problem.
tried disabling Svcs turning off, windows defender, downloading and trying to install one by one - but nothing seems to work.
I am contemplating turning off automatic updates all together.
Please advise - my pc system is Intel core I7 -3770K CPU 3.50GHZ,16GBRAM, 64bit OS windows 8 pro

Hi Linda,
Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft community forum!
It’s unfortunate that you are facing this problem with windows 8; I will surely help you in fixing this issue.
From your issue description, I understand that windows 8 updates are getting stuck at 9%.
Q1: Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
2: Do you get any error message/code?
3: What is the KB number of the updates which fails to install?
I would recommend you to follow the below given methods and check if it helps.
To view your update history
a)Open Windows Update in Control Panel by pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking "Search", entering "Windows Update" in the search box, clicking "Settings", and then clicking "Install optional
updates".
b) In the left pane, tap or click "View update history"
c) Under "Status" look for the Failed updates.
Double click the failed updates to view the error details which should have an error code.
Method 1: Run the update troubleshooter
a)Press "Windows+R" key and type "control" in the open field
b)In Control panel, open "Troubleshooting" and then "View All" on the left pane
c)Run the ‘Windows Update’ troubleshooter.
Method 2:
Temporarily disable the anti virus if you have one installed and try installing the updates.
Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.
In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software.
If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done.
If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is
disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3
Put the computer in Clean Boot state to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.
