Adding text string to conditional formatting formula?

Hi,
 
I *think* I have one condition in conditional formatting okay.  If a condition is true, I believe the formula below will change cell colours and will display the text "To Do Today:" in B3:
 
=WEEKDAY((B4)=6, "To Do Today:")
 
At least, I get no error and the formula is accepted in condition 1.
 
In condition 2, I just can't place those parentheses so that they take.  Ideally, the text string displayed if the condition is true as "To do this coming Friday:":
 
Formula:  =NOT(WEEKDAY(B4)=6)
Text string:  "To do this coming Friday:"
 
But I get errors all the time no matter what I do.  And I've googled and googled.  Nothing has come up so far.

Conditional Formatting will not display text as a output.
 The formula  does not generate an output, only a True/False value used to apply formatting.
 

You need to do this in 2 separate steps

First put the formula =IF(Weekday(B4)=6,"To Do Today:","To do this coming Friday:") in cell B3
Then set your conditions
Condition 1 Cell value="To Do Today:" and pick your formatting
Condition 2 Cell Value="To do this coming Friday:" and pick another format to use.
