How to Fix - Windows does accept my DSL connection?

Windows does accept my DSL connection

My DSL internet connection on my Windows 7 works a while then randomly I lose it.

I get the message from Windows "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection".
 
Usually right along with that my ISP generates a message to enter my user ID and password.

I reenter and all is well until the connection goes away again.

I did turn off my password protection sharing-did that help? I still lose my connection but not as often.

Here's the good part.
My DSL is OK because when I plug in my laptop with Vista, nary a problem.

I'm stuck in a continuous loop in my mind-is the problem my ISP and compatability and/or/neither windows 7 and its "newness"?

Use the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted or missing system files:

1. Click Start.
2. Type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open the elevated command prompt (I.e. Command prompt with administrative rights).
3. The User Account Control window should appear, be sure that the action it exhibits is correct, and then press the Continue button.
4. Type or copy paste the below command line into it without quotes:
